Content: Integers Negative Positive Zero Pairs Goals: The students will be able to add integers tanging from -10 through -10 without manipulates by the end ot the class period. Students will be on task and working the entire time.
Objectives: |
Given a worksheet and manipulates the students will add integers ranging from-10 through -10. Given the time to practice with partners, the students will add Integers without the use ot manipulates. |
Materials: |
Smartboard, smartnotebook. worksheet, red counteis with - sign, black counters with + sign, pro-printed notes (one larger, one regular size), set ot manipulates with raised -and + signs |
Introduction: |
The students will begin the lesson by solving a "real-wotld" application problem dealing with shopping and integers. |
Development |
The students will learn what the manipulates represent and what a zero pair is. The students will then watch the teacher demonstrate a problem using the manipulates. |
Practice: |
The students will be guded through 3 practice problems with the teacher while using the manipulates. |
Accommodations: |
During Independent practice the students may choose to use the manipulates or not to use them. The visually unpaired child will be sat near the Iron! and provided with large print notes prior to the lesson. She will also be provided with manipulates that have raised + and - signs on them Instead ot the regular ones. The hearing impaired child will be sat near the front ot the room. He will be provided with a set ot class notes prior to the start ot the lesson. The ADHD child will be in charge of handing out all materials. |
