Of all the disciplines, architecture has to be one of the most challenging and comprehensive. In fact, many professionals consider it to be both a science and an art. It also involves years of study that could go well beyond a standard bachelor's degree. Luckily, the professionals inside the field have gone the extra mile to insure the best and most talented students can join them.
There is a veritable alphabet soup of societies for financial assistance. In turn, they see it as part of their duty to reward the best and brightest so they continue their studies. One of the most prominent of these groups is the National Architectural Accrediting Board. It ranks and rates many of the departments out there. In turn, it is ably assisted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the American Architectural Foundation. Staying informed of the most recent information about single mother grants may speed your success. To start with, the NAAB offers a good general scholarship called the Corporate Architects and Facility Award. It is open to any U.S. or Canadian student who is attending an accredited university or college. As part of the application process, students are required to supply an academic transcript, letter of recommendation, and write an essay. For all of this, recipients can receive anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500 a year. For minorities, there are both the AIA/AAF Minority Disadvantaged Scholarship and the African American Intern Scholarship. The first is administered by both the Institute and the Foundation and is designed to assist all high school graduates through undergraduates of a minority heritage or those who come from a financially disadvantaged background. On the other hand, the Intern Scholarship is only for students of African-American backgrounds. In both cases, they can award full scholarships to the right students. Practice Management is another important aspect of the profession. The ProNet David W. Lakamp AIA Scholarship is for architectural students planning to enter this part of the field. One must be attending a NAAB-approved degree program or currently in the third year of a four-year pre-professional degree program in the field. If approved, the student gets a $2,500 award. The Worldview Studio is one group that recognizes architecture as an art as much as a STEM profession. This primarily arts-oriented organization also has an architectural scholarship good for anywhere from $200 to $5,000. Also, no architectural education is complete without getting one's license, so the Jason Pettigrew ARE Scholarship Award was created to cover the costs of that test. Checking out additional details about college scholarships online will be possible with a little research. The AIA also has one other program of interest to future architects that should be of interest to those trying to get the most out of their scholarships. The AIA Component Matching Grant Program is committed to contributing to the preparation of graduates by matching other scholarship awards to support local and state components, or their affiliated foundations, in providing and developing scholarship programs. The award must be at least $500 for the AIA to consider matching it and must also be recommended by the NAAB. About the Author: Frank Cole Architecture is a very long and involving educational process, whether through traditional or online degrees. At the same time, there are groups like the NAAB and AIA out there to help students cover their tuition. There are other groups out there besides these, too. They will help reduce the financial challenge of going to accredited online colleges so you can concentrate on your coursework. |
