Inside a modern hospital, most medical personnel have white aprons. In the hospitals of the earlier centuries when nursing was still a very new concept, doctors used to wear white aprons just as the modern doctors. Nurses were required to wear grayish dresses. Some nurses used to accompany the grayish dresses with white aprons. The aprons were optional for nurses.

The grey dress was a favorite of Florence Nightingale. Every nurse in the world knows who this eminent person is. Some scholars consider Nightingale to be the mother of nursing. This nurse features in a number of books some of which contain medical information and some which contain historic information. Most historians have lauded the role Nightingale played in saving lives during Crimean war.

Later, white dresses and aprons became the fad and they overshadowed the traditional grey dresses. Aprons used by doctors and nurses are not the only ones that are white. Aprons used by engineers, lab technicians and chefs among other professionals are also white. A nurse with a sparkling white dress not only looks professional but she also looks hygienic and clean. A person who is helping patients to recover from conditions caused by germs should not only look hygienic but should also be hygienic and very clean.

A patient who is very sick may have problems identifying colored colors. However, most patients despite their state of sickness will easily identify color white in the midst of other colors. Therefore a nurse having whitish dress will be identified easily by a very sick patient than one having a navy blue dress. White dresses will have to be washed on a daily basis because they show even the smallest amount of dirt. Nurses, who don't want to wash clothing on a daily basis, can opt for colored clothing.

The favorite color and style of one person is not the favorite color and style of another person. This also applies to nurses. One nurse may like a full dress that is purely white while another nurse may prefer a black pair pants with a purely white apron. Some hospitals don't give nurses the freedom to choice. Some organizations have dress codes and all members of the organization are supposed to stick to the dress code.

In earlier centuries, it was a requirement for all nurses to put on long dresses and to cover the dresses with aprons. Many nurses complained that dresses were not comfortable and were hard to work in. As a result of the complaints, tunics and pants started to be used. Pants are very comfortable.

Nursing uniforms as well as Mobb Medical do not need necessarily to be white. They can be blue, black or even gray. Different people have different tastes when it comes to style and color.
