Teaching With Your Classroom Library

Use your library to encourage independent reading to support vocabulary growth and reading comprehension skills. The following ideas will help you provide a structure for independent reading and reading response.

Strategies to Use During and After Reading (Grades 3-8)
This article describes three strategies students can use to improve their independent reading skills.

Talking About Text (PDF)
Use this lesson to model a book discussion with your students. Then group students with common book interests and let them conduct the same structure in a small group discussion.
