Adequate sleep- It is important for toddlers to have enough rest because adequate rest will provide them energy. Sleep is important for children as the rest help them to regenerate their energy. Tantrums are often at peak in the afternoons because the level of blood sugar drops and children need their snack at around 3pm. 3. Provide your child with the best alternatives to choose from when his temper seems uncontrollable. For example, if your kid wants to have chocolates all the time, and you know its harmful for him, give him an option to either have chocolate or go for shopping the next day. As soon as they will start understanding you and your preferences, it would be better to deal with them when they are grown ups. 4. Take time-out No matter how patient you are, there will be a certain breaking point at where you begin to lose your temper. It is never easy to raise a kid which is why taking time-out is very important. Pass the baton to your spouse and go out for some fresh air. It is very crucial that you do not show your child your frustration or anger because it will most certainly affect their emotions. Instead, take a break and relax to calm yourself down. 5. Find the cause and deal with it Do not delay in finding for the cause of your child's tantrum. Kids don't have the ability to let us know their problems, therefore, they throw tantrums. Comfort your child if he or she starts crying and spend more quality time with them to show how much you care about them. It is important for the child to have both parents paying attention to him or her. About the Author: Frank Cole Learn more about discipline tips at this website about Toddler Tantrums. |
